Algae

A new category of materials being developed is Non-Food Crops, which includes algae.

Cereplast is proud to introduce the first algae-based plastic products.

Cereplast Algae-Bioplastics are designed to replace up to 50% or more of the petroleum content used in traditional plastic resins. Algae has the ability to absorb and minimize greenhouse gases from the industrial process, creating up to 45% fewer greenhouse gases than traditional plastics. Algae from a typical photo-bioreactor can be used as biofuel or as a raw material source for biopolymer feedstock.
