Cereplast to Supply Bioresin for Cadaco’s Enviro-Blox™ Building Toys
HAWTHORNE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cereplast, Inc. (OTCBB:CERP), manufacturer of proprietary bio-based sustainable plastics, today announced it has started to supply compostable resin for a new line of environmentally-friendly toys developed by Cadaco, one of America’s oldest independent game and toy companies.
Parts of Cadaco’s Enviro-BLOX™ building kits launched earlier this year at Toy Fair 2008 are manufactured using Cereplast Compostables® resin. Products made with Cereplast Compostables® resin are renewable, ecologically sound substitutes for petroleum-based plastic, replacing petroleum-based resins with bio-based materials sourced from corn, wheat, tapioca and potato starches.
We are very pleased about working with Cadaco and with the many new applications for our Compostables® family of resins,” said Frederic Scheer, Chairman and CEO of Cereplast. “We are seeing more and more converters and manufacturers producing environmentally safe alternatives to petroleum-based plastic products.”
“Enviro-BLOX™ are part of Cadaco’s commitment to creating toys and games that are safe for kids and for the environment as well,” said John Lindsay, President of Cadaco. “Cereplast’s bioresins provided us with a way to create unique tools to complement a totally green option for building toys without sacrificing any of the classic fun kids love.”
