Cereplast Compostables® Resins
Cereplast creates compostable bioplastic resin pellets from renewable resources.
Manufacturers use the plastic pellets to make packaging and single use consumer products.
Used products are 100% compostable, breaking down in less than 180 days in industrial compost facilities.
Cereplast Compostables resins are made from renewable resources and are ecologically sound substitutes for fossil fuel-based plastics, replacing nearly 100% of the petroleum-based additives used in traditional plastics. The resins are starch-based and gluten-free, made from corn, tapioca and potato starches that primarily come from the American Midwest (versus oil from the Middle East). Cereplast Compostables resins are used for single-use disposables and packaging including cups, straws, cutlery, and bags.
Cereplast Compostables resins are biodegradable and compostable in the United States and Europe meeting the ASTM D6400 or EN 13432 standards for compostability. Many grades have BPI and/or DIN Certco certification.
